Blind-Spot Monitoring Explained

Statistics indicate that approximately 300 automotive fatalities occur each year secondary to collisions caused by one vehicle being in another vehicle's blind-spot. For this reason, blind-spot monitoring technology was developed. See a selection of vehicles equipped with the technology by stopping by our Arlington Mercedes-Benz sales location. Many new vehicles are equipped with cameras or sensors that continually monitor the car, SUV, or truck from all directions. When a problem is detected, the driver receives a warning to make a possible correction. The systems often include blind-spot technology.

When a vehicle enters the blind-spot region of another vehicle, the system provides the driver with an audible warning or a flashing light to warn of impending danger. Some systems only activate if the driver uses the turn signal to change lanes. In any event, the safety technology has proven to greatly reduce the risk of accidental collision.
